LISTEN TO “TEXAS STANDARD” ON KEOS

Beginning Monday, March 2nd, 5:00 p.m on weekdays, “Texas Standard” makes its debut at 89.1FM, KEOS Radio, which has been selected as exclusive Bryan/College Station area affiliate for this innovative and exciting new show.

It is a one-hour daily news magazine, grounded in the best traditions of American journalism: fact-based, independent and politically neutral reporting.  In an era in which news outlets, politics and citizens are increasingly polarized, “Texas Standard” offers critical breadth, variety and integrity.  Its promise to audience and guests is to “respect your intelligence, respect your need for accurate information, engage both head and heart, remain true to the ideals of public radio, experiment and try new things, keep you informed and connected, and surprise you.”

“Texas Standard” www.TexasStandard.org is a project of KUT Austin, KERA North Texas, Houston Public Media and San Antonio’s Texas Public Radio—and news organizations across Texas, Mexico and the United States.  This cross-station collaboration—first of its kind among public radio stations in Texas—provides listeners access to stories from communities across the state, while staying connected with a broader world view.

Hosted by journalist David Brown who, prior to his work with “Texas Standard,” founded and hosted the award-winning cultural journalism unit “Texas Music Matters” at KUT Public Radio and is known nationally for his work as host of public radio’s “Marketplace,” “Texas Standard” will also feature interviews with researchers, innovators, business leaders, political thinkers and experts—across Texas and around the globe—who reflect a diversity of opinions. The mission: To explore the world of news, economics, innovation and culture every day—from a Texas perspective—in a fresh, contemporary, conversational style.
