Bryan ISD Wraps Up First Six Weeks

The first six weeks of school is just about over and many more students will be returning to the classroom with the start of the second six weeks on Monday, September 28th.  Bryan ISD Public Outreach Officer Dr. Hugo Ibarra was in the studio this week to tell listeners about the safety precautions that are in place in all schools as students who have been learning on-line are welcomed back into the classroom.  He reminded parents that all students, regardless of age, must wear a face mask, bring a water bottle to school with them due to water fountains being closed, and that temperature checks must be done at home each morning before being dropped off at or riding a bus to school.  Pre-K through 6th graders will bring their assigned devices, such as MacBooks, Chromebooks or Tablets, to school with them.  Athletic events are resuming with provisions for both physical and virtual spectators.

Dr. Ibarra also had information about a school bond election that is coming up on November 3rd.  Funds from the proposed five million dollar bond will be used for five main areas:  Safety & security, new construction and additions, priority maintenance, Fine Arts improvements and land purchases,  A major portion of the proposed bond funding will be used for construction of a new third Intermediate School on the north side of Bryan on land currently occupied by Bryan ISD Transportation.
